4th Annual Give Back 2 Give Thanks Slated for Sunday
During the third annual turkey giveaway last year, Blake Corum declared he would continue this event regardless of what his future held.
Now that the running back is in Los Angeles for his rookie NFL season, the only change from this year’s event will be that Blake won’t physically be there. Corum delivered on his promised by announcing the 4th annual Give Back 2 Give Thanks event.
Corum’s connection to the Ypsilanti community began when we first attended CLR Academy’s launch back in June 2021. As the summer program grew, so did Corum’s commitment which went from just being generous with his time and mentorship for young kids, to financing an annual turkey giveaway for the same community he spent so much time with.
To those closest to Corum, they know CLR Academy is just one of the philanthropic initiatives he supports. He has programs and partnerships across the nation that all center on making our communities better and stronger, specifically for the generations to come.
“Blake moves different. He does everything from his heart, with pure intention, only with the hopes of making a positive impact in someone’s life, who needs it most. He gives his time, his love and money without hesitation while redefining what it means to be an athlete that is community focused,” said CLR Academy co-founder, Bilal Saeed.
Over the past three events, CLR Academy and Blake Corum have partnered to giveaway over 1,000 turkeys. Sunday’s event will take the total to 1,700 since the inception thanks to partners like The Last Word of Watershed Hospitality, Supreme Felons, Underdawg Nation and Washtenaw My Brother’s Keeper.
“The Ypsi community was like home to me during my 4 years at Michigan. It’s full of great people and great energy and I feel like it’s my duty to continue to give back to them! I will give back to the Ypsi community for as long as I live. Thanksgiving is a very important time of year, and even through I am across the country, it’s important they know I am still thinking about them,” said Corum.
